Merlimau assemblyman passes away


MALACCA: Merlimau assemblyman Datuk Mohamad Hidhir Abu Hassan, 54, passed away at Hospital Putra here at 8.10pm on Thursday.

The state Rural Development and Agriculture Committee chairman and state Umno deputy secretary had undergone an emergency operation last week to clear a blocked artery.

He subsequently suffered successive heart attacks on Saturday, Monday and early Thursday.

His death was announced by the hospitals chief executive officer Radhuana Salleh.

She said Mohamad Hidhir suffered a heart attack on Saturday at around 2pm, a second one at around noon on Monday and a third at 6.45am Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam denied reports that Mohamad Hidhir had passed away.

Several online portals had reported about Mohamad Hidhirs death in early evening. The report was attributed Malacca Election Commission.

State EC director Wan Mohamad Salleh had admitted that the earlier information given to his superior in Putrajaya about Mohamad Hidhirs death was based on inaccurate information. - Star
