Anwar slams Najib, PAS man targets Rosmah

The opposition leader dismisses Najib's 'fever' threat, and renews his challenge for a debate.

LABIS: PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim renewed his challenge to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to have a debate on the economy, and warned the latter not to focus on personal issues.

Responding to Najibs fever threat, the opposition leader said he was not perturbed by this. If I get a fever when I debate with him, its okay, I will take Panadol.

But you (Najib) answer us. I am confident because we are not lying about the Pakatan Rakyat 100-day plan, he told a ceramah here on the first night of the Tenang by-election campaign.

Last week, the prime minister had warned Anwar against pushing for the debate because he could reveal information that would cause the latter to end up with a fever.

Meanwhile, Anwar also lambasted Najib last night for bringing up the sodomy trial issue when the challenge was to debate about economic matters.

He also asked why Najib was afraid to debate when he had an army of economic experts on his side.

I challenged him on the economy but his answer was about personal issues. I dont want to debate about personal issues, but if he really wants to, then okay. Najib, we will debate.

But I want to warn you, if you say you can reveal things, then I also have the right to reveal. Who snatched whose wife? Who killed Altantuya (Shaariibuu)? Who took all the commission? Youll be destroyed if you answer all those, he said.

Dont throw stones when you live in a glass house. So Najib, the next time you bring up personal issues, I will be forced to challenge you to a debate on personal issues. But as a responsible politician, I suggest we focus on economic issues, he added.

No corruption and lo! wer fuel prices

Anwar said the auditor-general reported RM20 billion in leakages and corruption, and questioned why the government could not ease the burden of the rakyat by maintaining subsidies for petrol and sugar.

The earnings from petrol, RM70 billion, where does it go? Buying a Scorpene submarine, RM500 million is given in commission, Altantuya is dead but no one answers for that, Sukhoi, RM400 million wasted, the stadium in Terengannu collapses but no action is taken.

The reason they can get away with all that is because Umno leaders are invincible, he said

Why is the government subsidising independent power producers, big companies like YTL, Ananda Krishnan, Genting, but taxing the people? Najib, are you a representative of the big towkays or a representative of the people? he asked.

Anwar also questioned why the price of palm oil was rising when Malaysia was a major exporter of the product.

Why does this happen? Wei shen me (why in Chinese) Who is earning from this? he asked.
Anwar also promised the 300 or so locals that when Pakatan took control of Putrajaya, petrol prices would be reduced and corruption eradicated.

The PKR leader also spoke about the Apco controversy, and showed several documents to the crowd.

In 1999, Ehud Barak said 1Isreal, people first. In 2009, Najib says 1Malaysia. Oh yes, its just a coincidence, he said.

PAS man targets Rosmah

Speaking later at the same ceramah, PAS leader Mohamad Sabu zeroed in on Najibs wife, Rosmah Mansor.

We usually dont criticise peoples wives but in the case of Rosmah, we can make an exception, he said.

He questioned the cost of her trip to Dubai and the amount given by the government to her Pusat Anak Permata Negara (Permata) foundation.

If we take away all these, do we really need to remove sugar subsidies? he asked.

Mohamad Sabu also questioned Rosmah calling herself the first lady when the title was supposedly reserved f! or royal s.

The first lady summit for us its not a beauty pageant but the problem is she doesnt invite those leaders who have beautiful wives. But thats not what we are complaining about, its the peoples money that is being used for all these, he said. - FMT
